Baked Apples with Cherries

Baked Apples with Cherries are a cozy dairy free healthy dessert made with apples, sweet cherries, maple syrup, and cinnamon. This refined sugar free AIP recipe is simple, nourishing, and perfect for fall gatherings or weeknight treats.

Ingredients
  

  • 5 apples any sweet variety
  • 2 tbsp avocado oil or ghee if introduced
  • 2 –3 tbsp coconut sugar or maple syrup
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon or more if preferred
  • 20 sweet cherries pitted (frozen or fresh)

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Wash apples and cut them in half. Remove the cores to make a small cavity.
    Scooping out the center of apples to prepare for Baked Apples with Cherries, dairy free healthy dessert.
  3. Place apples cut-side up in a baking dish.
  4. Brush with avocado oil or melted ghee.
  5. Add 2 cherries in the center of each apple half.
  6. Sprinkle evenly with cinnamon and coconut sugar (or drizzle with maple syrup).
