AIP-Friendly Plum Dumplings Health Benefits
These AIP-friendly Plum Dumplings offer a nutritious alternative to traditional desserts. The sweet potatoes provide vitamin A, which supports immune function. Plums are rich in antioxidants, promoting gut health. Avocado oil adds healthy fats that are good for the heart.
Ingredients with Vitamins and Minerals

- Sweet Potato: Rich in vitamin A, C, and fiber, supports immune function and digestive health.
- Plums: Full of vitamin C, potassium, and antioxidants to promote healthy digestion and reduce inflammation.
- Avocado Oil: Packed with healthy monounsaturated fats and vitamin E, supporting skin and heart health.
How to Make It
Prepare the Sweet Potato:
Begin by steaming or boiling 500g (about 2 cups) of sweet potatoes until tender. Mash them thoroughly until smooth and lump-free. Let them cool slightly before using.

Mix the Dough:
In a large bowl, combine the mashed sweet potatoes with 300g (1 ½ cups) of tapioca flour and a pinch of sea salt. Add 2 eggs. Mix well until the dough is soft but not too sticky. If the dough feels too wet, add a little more tapioca flour until it’s manageable.

Prepare the Plums:
Wash and pit 20 small plums. If you want, you can cut them in half if they’re large. Optionally, drizzle a small amount of honey inside each plum if they’re too tart. This will add a touch of sweetness to the filling.
Shape the Dumplings:
Take a small portion of the dough (about the size of a golf ball) and flatten it in the palm of your hand. Place one plum (or half) in the center of the dough, then carefully fold the dough around the plum, sealing it completely. Ensure there are no gaps or openings to prevent the filling from escaping during cooking.

Boil the Dumplings:
Bring a large pot of salted water to a gentle boil. Once the water is boiling, carefully drop the dumplings into the pot. Let them cook for about 8-10 minutes. The dumplings are done when they float to the surface of the water. Use a slotted spoon to carefully remove them from the pot and set them aside.

Coat the Dumplings:
In a shallow bowl, mix 200g (about 2 cups) of cassava or tigernut breadcrumbs with 2 teaspoons of cinnamon (optional). Heat 4 tablespoons of avocado oil in a pan over medium heat. Fry the mixture until golden brown. Take off the heat and gently roll each dumpling in the breadcrumb mixture, ensuring it’s fully coated.
Serve and Enjoy:
Once all the dumplings are fried, arrange them on a plate. For an added touch, you can drizzle coconut yogurt on top or serve with a bit of honey if desired. Enjoy your AIP-Friendly Plum Dumplings while they’re warm!
These AIP-Friendly Plum Dumplings are perfect for dessert or as a snack.

Notes
- AIP Reintroduction: This recipe includes eggs, making it ideal for those reintroducing eggs on the Autoimmune Protocol. If still in the elimination phase, try a gelatin egg substitute.
- Dough Consistency: Tapioca flour makes the dough more elastic. If too sticky, add small amounts of tapioca flour until it holds together
- Plum Sweetness: If the plums are tart, drizzle a little honey inside each one for a balanced flavor.
- Coating Alternatives: Cassava or tigernut breadcrumbs work best, but you can also use finely ground coconut flakes if needed.
- Serving Suggestion: Enjoy warm with a drizzle of honey or a dollop of coconut yogurt for extra creaminess.
- Storage: Best enjoyed fresh, but leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 2 days and lightly reheated.
